All my books are set in Yorkshire and I have two settings:

WHITSBOROUGH BAY – The fictional North Yorkshire seaside town of Whitsborough Bay is predominantly inspired by Scarborough where I live but also draws inspiration from some of the other wonderful local coastal resorts such as Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. Anyone familiar with this area is likely to recognise a few places and perhaps be transported back to happy childhood holidays!

HEDGEHOG HOLLOW – In July 2020, the first book in the Hedgehog Hollow series was published, introducing readers to a new setting on the Yorkshire Wolds. The Yorkshire Wolds covers a large area of coast and countryside across North and East Yorkshire. Hedgehog Hollow is a hedgehog rescue on a farm in the Wolds countryside.

Also on the Yorkshire Wolds is Bumblebee Barn, the home for my first release of 2023.

For maximum enjoyment (and to avoid any cross-book spoilers), I would strongly recommend reading the ‘Welcome to Whitsborough Bay’ series in order and there are also other books that do connect, as explained below.

I love my characters and several make appearances in other books. Regular readers will recognise them but anyone new to the book won’t be confused by their appearance if they have read the books in a different order. Many readers have read/listened to the stories out of order and have still thoroughly enjoyed them but those who do read them in order tend to love meeting old friends who make cameo appearances.

The main character in the Hedgehog Hollow series, Samantha Wishaw, hails from Whitsborough Bay but most of the scenes are on The Wolds and there is only one character who pops in who appears in any of the Whitsborough Bay books. Readers therefore don’t need to have read any of the Whitsborough Bay books to enjoy the Hedgehog Hollow ones. I would strongly urge reading the Hedgehog Hollow books in order because Samantha is the main character throughout.

As mentioned above, I do recommend reading this series in order.

Book 1 was written as a prequel so potentially could be read out of order but books 2-4 are about the same three women: Sarah, Elise and Clare. Elise is Sarah’s best friend since primary school and Clare is her best friend from university. THE HEDGEHOG HOLLOW SERIES

In this series, Samantha Wishaw remains the main character throughout. The first book – Finding Love at Hedgehog Hollow – is her story about how she came to be owner of the beautiful farm and rescue centre. The subsequent books in the series still have Samantha as the narrator but they are dual perspective stories where Samantha’s story runs alongside that of another family member or a friend.

From book 2 onwards, I have a cast of characters and a ‘Story so far’ reminding readers of what has already happened which provide a helpful recap but I would personally recommend that this series is enjoyed the most when the books are read in order. This is because the story behind Samantha having Hedgehog Hollow is a recurring theme, as are the relationships she have with friends and family, so it’s best to go on that journey with her from the beginning.

Having said that, there are many readers who have dipped in partway through but most to then say they want to go back and start from the beginning. The story is so much richer reading it from the start.

Each book is written as a standalone complete story but each book has a cliffhanger chapter at the end, leading into an event that kicks off the following book. If you don’t enjoy cliffhangers, please don’t read that chapter! I emphasise that the story I am telling in each book has been completed but the cliffhanger chapter is a teaser for what is to come.

However, for those who haven’t read Hedgehog Hollow, this book will make sense and you can dive right in.
